ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This is a special page. This page describes the people who helped me to walk the correct path in computing and Today's Technology.

My father, Mr. A.M. Jayasekare (aqua1@eureka.lk) is the first person in my computer life that gave the first push to walk this path. As I have said he never let me down on this subject. I remember that those days I never dreamed about such machines. I was not willing to touch that computer when my father taught me a small concept about Word Perfect (the DOS based software used for word processing) I did not even think about that much and almost forgot what he taught to me. My father then sent me to a computer class, which is the turning point of my computer literacy. That led me to learn more about WordPerfect and GW-BASIC. Even that did not make the necessity for learning. I kept those exercise books in my bookshelf which were the learning resources but I never thought that I am going to use them one day. My father gave me the courage to carry on. When he brought me the first computer (can be in 1992). It was like a machine that made for games only I thought. It was amazing that my father worked with it for office use. There was a small question in my mind. How can this machine be so useful to us? I did not know that there were generations to those machines. The PC brought to our home earlier was a good resource to learn Windows 3.1. That operating system was a good teacher. There was a tutorial in it. From that point onwards I got the basic knowledge. I did not know that computers get old (may be a 286) until he brought another PC that looked surprisingly changed my life. Here I must say that the new computer (Pentium 1-in 1995) was the teacher from that point onwards. By using it round the clock I learned about Windows 95 and DOS with ease. In addition, I met some big problems because of my habit of changing the system settings. Those problems were solved but leading to more PC problems. My father had to work with the documents in his official work at night. However, the computer was not ready to work in the evenings because of the malfunctions made by me. Therefore when I see a problem I worked all day to get rid of the problem. Computer Problems, WHICH I SOLVED, WERE THE TEACHERS TO ME. That is how I became an experienced user of the PC. Because of my enormous, fascinating interest of this subject, my father and my mother sent me to do a Diploma in Information Technology (1996) in the institute called ABACUS[(abacus@slt.lk) Academy of Business Studies and Computer Utility Services] in Kohuwala, Nugegoda, Sri Lanka. That is the end of the approaching story of my computer life. I grasped more knowledge after that. In 1999 I went to do an Intermediate Level Java course in the IDM(www.idm.edu). It was a nice experience and I learned Java with ease because I had some knowledge on C++. Therefore, my parents were behind my knowledge. Best regards to my father and my mother. Thanks! To both of you and may you attend Nibbana.

Then the story of Experts begins. Mr. Lakmal Jinadasa (jinadasa@nortelnetworks.com) is a man with quick working and cleverly thinking brain. He was the Technical Engineer in the Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT). He was known to me after his marriage with my mother's relation (a cousin)Mrs. Chandani Dissanaike (Thulsy@cs.com). I became interested at his knowledge because he made his own computer and worked with ease. Those days (around 1998) he visited us frequently. Sometimes he used to show me how to log and what is the internet. Actually, he was the first to show me what the Internet really is. Its colors, sounds, pictures and videos amazed me. He saw my interest on computing and gave me some unexplainable, valuable, breathtaking, computer books on subjects like C++, DOS, Microsoft Office, PC-Tools, Virus, Lotus and Windows. I used them carefully, read them page by page, but sometimes I never understood it! Without his help I will not walk up the steps. He got a new job in America(because of his great knowledge in Computers). Now he is an employee in NortelNetworks, lives in California. During those days in Sri Lanka he enjoyed teaching me Maths (He is an Expert) and I enjoyed his knowledge in computing. I am proud of his present state in United States. Good Luck! And All the Best. But unfortunately I am unable to describe his helpfulness to me using My English Knowledge.

I would like to thank Amila Chandrasiri (amila.c@usa.net or http://amila-c.tripod.com) a friend of mine. Without his help I want be using the Internet (that means no email, no WebPages, nothing at all). So he is the real person and the driving-force...Good for Him!

Sivantha Mahanama (sivantha@yahoo.com) is my classmate, the computer friend, and the real one. He gave me the correct ideas and the programs (software) to go on or to get on with it. Thank You! DJ-Siva.

At the background to foreground, My mother--Mrs. Kusum Athtanaike (ammi@nlba.8m.com) is the lifeblood in all this (Built Me to GET UP with it).

Thanks to the officers in DATA TECHNOLOGIES [(ravee@eureka.lk) the vendor of my computer] for installing the programs I wanted (Borland C++, Visual Basic) to my computer in the air if helping me.

Thanks and Best Regards to all who helped me to get up and walk up the steps of technology (including Bill Gates and other software people+HardWare Engineers)

Thank YOU for Visiting this page...
