Sri Lanka is a beautiful island situated in the Indian Ocean. It was mentioned as the Pearl of The Indian Ocean. It is near the equator that makes its climate a little hot, though it is a cool hotness in Sri Lanka. It is a good choice made by the nature and makes my country sustained with life forms unique to our country, providing rain forests and numerous faunas. There are other reasons too, which makes our country so attractive to foreigners. It has a nice looking sea enriched with a great variety of plants and fish. The contry's civilization had begun started about 2500 years ago, which makes a great history written to it.

The people who lived during those days built world's most wonderful tombs, monuments, statues which were built for permanent purposes stand still in districts like Mahanuwara, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. It makes us to feel proud of our country's heritage. Sri Lanka's main religion is Buddhism. It has started from the beginning of our history. Therefore we can say Buddhism in our country made our culture a unique and suitable for our heritage. Though the Sri Lankans are from India, Sri Lanka has its own culture and uniqueness with a great heritage to its living beings. Our country has more three recognized religions too. They came from foreign people who ruled this country by torture and crime, who came for religious purposes, who came for trading. Those religions are Hindu, Islam, and Catholic.

However, people in Sri Lanka are proud of their country and heritage unless the ongoing war withTamil Tigers. Actually Tamil People came from India. They live peacefully with us. They can use everything as Sinhalese (Sinhala People) can without any problem or permission. However, they have the right to live in this country peacefully. There is no need to separate the country for people like the LTTE. The only problem in the country is this war. It is useless. Why cannot they live like Ordinary Tamil People? May be the desire to power and money is the driving force of them.

As a Sri Lankan I feel sad about this war. If there is no war in Sri Lanka our country will be one of the richest countries in the world. Nevertheless, I do not think a small passage describing our war with Tamil Tigers is necessary. It is a war that never ends in defeating or by winning it (There is no such thing to it). Our country needs help to solve this problem from all over the world. However, I should say that neither the Tamil Tigers nor the Ordinary Tamil People must be given a division of our beautiful tiny island paradise. We must live mixed sharing our Mother Nature.

What do you think if you live in Sri Lanka? Enyone can enjoy its windy,cool,hot or rainy days. Sometimes you will forget that this is a tropical country when you goto the upcountry to enjoy the cool climate there. In the middle of Sri Lanka there are mountains which have complex geographical changes. It makes the upcountry cool upto 13 degrees (C) or more. Also the forests are filled with plant life that you can hardly enter in to a such forest. The plant life sustains great water storage that the Water Falls makes the forests more beautiful.

Asian Elephants are the most valuable kind of animals in Sri Lanka. In the history they were exported to other countries. The elephants in Sri Lanka can be seen in the lower part of the country. In Kandy Elephants become precious because they are taken to a possesion called the "Dalada Perehara". Selected elephants are taken to the possesion. Dalada Perehara is a major tourist attration. If you come to Sri Lanka to have a holiday you can come on July to see it. Though I must say that even to explore the country's major attractions it will take a lifetime. Dalada Perehara can be defined as a celebretion or an offering. People from all over the country have to participate for different kinds duties in this. Because it is possesion to carry the 'Holy tooth relic' of the Buddha and to place it in the Castle in Kandy called the Dalada Mailgawa.

Anyone who wants to Explore our country in a few months time will find it quite difficult, for the country has a rich tradition, sea around it and wonderful+beautiful places everywhere or anywhere in the country.
